What is Vertical Gastrectomy?
In vertical gastrectomy surgery, in English “sleeve gastectomy”, the stomach is narrowed, cutting it vertically to form a tube about 80-120 ml in volume and suturing the wall on the side of the resection. It is a restrictive intervention with a double effect: it increases the feeling of satiety and decreases appetite. Patients also show less interest in food.
Why sleeve gastrectomy surgery?
Sleeve gastrectomy surgery, applied laparoscopically.
Laparoscopic surgery is a minimally invasive surgery, which is performed with the help of small incisions. This is done with the help of an instrument called a laparoscope. This instrument contains a camera and light source so that the surgeon can see inside the body without the need for large incisions.
What are the advantages of laparoscopic surgery?
- Minimal external signs;
- Shorter hospital stay;
- Fewer internal wounds;
- Wounds that heal faster;
- Less pain;
- Quick return to activities;
