Zygomatic implants

Solving the problem of missing jawbone

If you have been suffering from missing teeth for years and have been rejected many times by dentists due to the same and common diagnosis – the lack of bone mass for the grafting of classic implants – today there is a solution for you!

With the help of zygomatic implants we can offer you a fixed solution for 4 implants. The difference between an all-on-4 zygomatic and a classic all-on-4 lies in the length of the implants, the direction of the transplant and the position of the implants. While classic implants are grafted parallel to the maxillary sinus and into the frontal bone mass of the maxilla, zygomatic implants are grafted into the zygomatic bone and in some cases through the maxillary sinus.

Zygomatic implants are made of titanium, they are 30-60 mm long depending on the clinical case of the patient. The operation is performed under local anesthesia, if necessary under conscious sedation, under the supervision of an anesthesiologist and is performed by a maxillofacial surgeon assisted by an oral surgeon.

If for years you have suffered from a total lack of teeth and have suffered from removable prostheses, this implantology protocol may be your last resort.

Grafting of zygomatic implants

The first step is a specialist visit which also includes a CT scan, a precise clinical examination and a consultation with the maxillofacial surgeon. By making the visit, the surgeon can determine the condition of the jawbone and plan the appropriate protocol for grafting zygomatic implants.

There are two solutions: Hybrid (includes 2 zygomatic implants and 2 to 4 classic implants placed in the front part of the jaw) and Quad (includes 4 zygomatic implants). After a careful analysis, it is decided which graft protocol can be given to the patient and the evaluation for the intervention is prepared.

If the patient accepts the evaluation, all necessary appointments are made to perform the implant transplant surgery and the production of the temporary fixed prosthesis. The final fixed prosthesis is produced 3-5 months after the implant transplant surgery.

Who is the ideal candidate for zygomatic implants?

All patients suffering from a lack of jawbone and all patients who have been denied the possibility of placing classic implants and reconstructing the jaw with a classic implant-prosthetic solution due to the lack of bone mass of the jaw.

Which specialist performs the operation?

Amo Clinic has a long tradition in dentistry thanks to its qualified medical staff. Grafting of zygomatic implants is performed exclusively by a specialist in maxillofacial surgery and oral surgery, possibly assisted by an anesthesiologist.

How does the operation take place?

Upon the patient’s entry into the operating room, a consultation is again held with the attending medical staff, a further check of the entire surgical procedure is made and any questions the patient has are answered.

The operation takes an hour and a half or two hours, depending on the predetermined zygomatic implant transplantation protocol. If necessary, the patient remains for a short time under observation after the operation. Immediately after the operation, impressions are taken for the provisional fixed prosthesis.

The dental laboratory is able to produce the temporary prosthesis in 24-32 hours so that the patient can receive it the day after the operation.

Post-operative controls are supervised by the surgeon.

Is the surgery painful?

The operation is performed under local anesthesia, if necessary under conscious sedation. The operation itself is not painful, however after the operation the face may swell slightly, there may be hematoma and a throbbing pain may be felt, as can also happen after a classic implant operation. After the operation, the patient is prescribed antibiotics, pain relievers and, if necessary, dexamethasone. The antibiotic should be taken to the end, as prescribed by the doctor. The patient should only rest, eat fresh and soft things. After 3-4 days, the patient returns to the clinic for a post-operative check-up.

How long does the recovery take?

2-3 days after the operation and after the check-up, the patient can resume his daily activities. There is absolutely no need to fear surgery.

What are the advantages of zygomatic implants?

In addition to being the only method thanks to which even patients without a jawbone can get a fixed solution, it also completely restores the masticatory functions of the mouth, restores the patient’s smile and regains more self-confidence.

How is the guarantee for the work performed maintained?

After the implant-prosthetic reconstruction with zygomatic implants has been completed, it is enough to have an annual check-up in our clinic, exactly as it happens after a classic implant-prosthetic reconstruction. The annual check is essential, thanks to it we continue to monitor the work done. A simple orthopanoramic dental examination is performed, thanks to which our surgeons can see if everything is in order with the implants. Then our dentists check the prosthetic part of the work. By performing the annual inspection, the work guarantee is preserved. If you happen to forget your annual checkup, don’t worry, our assistants will contact you in time to remind you!

How much does it cost?

Another important factor for the patient is of course the price. However, given the complexity of the work and possible operating protocols for the grafting of zygomatic implants, it is necessary to make a specialist dental visit, thanks to which an individual therapy plan can be prepared for each patient and based on this, assessment is also. prepared. We hope our answers have cleared your doubts. If you have other questions or would like to schedule an appointment, don’t hesitate to contact us!
